Occupational Therapy

 

A comprehensive Occupational Therapy service is available for inpatients and outpatients and covers orthopaedic, oncology, general medicine and surgery, elderly, paediatric and hand surgery patients.

The Occupational Therapy Department has been designed to provide the most stimulating and functional facilities for ADL (activities of daily living) training and enables a variety of patients to return to independence within their home environment.

  • Assessment and treatment of activities of daily living
  • Discharge planning including home visits, recommendation of adaptive equipment and community liaison for provision of care after discharge
  • Wheelchair assessments
  • Hand therapy and splinting
  • Measurement and prescription of pressure garments
  • Stress management and relaxation therapy
  • Treatment of lymphoedema
  • Cognitive and perceptual re-training
  • Neurological rehabilitation

Via Consultant or GP referral. Self-referrals are accepted subject to the appropriate Consultant/GP being contacted
