Improving air quality in theatres
Due to high demand the Hospital has recently
installed another Laminar flow ventilation system in one of our
theatres.

Conventional operating theatre ventilation
maintains approximately 20 filtered air changes per hour whereas
laminar flow ventilation operates upward of 300 filtered changes
per hour. This ensures that the air is exceptionally clean
which can dramatically reduce the risk of infective organisms being
present in the air. Used particularly in orthopaedic surgery, a
laminar flow system greatly reduces the risk of infection in joint
replacement and other orthopaedic surgery.
