Swine Influenza A (H1N1) viral infection -

Patient and Visitor Information

(updated Wednesday, 10 March 2010)

Patients and visitors to Bupa Cromwell Hospital have to be assessed to ascertain their level of risk of incubating the swine influenza A (H1N1) viral infection, before being given access to the hospital.

This strategy is to safeguard all patients, visitors and staff at the hospital and is line with national recommendations by the Health Protection Agency.

If you have flu-like symptoms such as:

  • Fever ≥ 38°C OR history of fever

AND

  • flu-like illness (cough, runny nose, limb/joint pain, headache)

you may have swine flu.

The National Flu Service is a new self-care service that will give people with swine flu symptoms fast access to information and antivirals.  Your symptoms will be assessed and if required, provide an authorisation number that can be used to collect antiviral medication from a local collection point.
