This speciality covers Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in
children with conditions that can be surgically treated to improve
their quality of life.
Bupa Cromwell Hospital has a team of Consultant Plastic Surgeons
experienced in treating such conditions in children, including:
- Vascular and pigmented birth marks / moles
- Congenital ear abnormalities (in conjunction with an ENT
Surgeon
- Scars
- Post trauma and cancer reconstructions (all parts)
More specialist areas that the Cromwell team can treat
include:
- Congenital hand deformities
- Cleft lip and palate
- Speech abnormalities
- Chest wall deformities

In Paediatric Plastic Surgery, our Consultants work as a team
with their chosen Paediatric Anaesthetist and, if required by the
child, with our Specialist Nursing Staff in the Paediatric
Intensive Care Unit.
Following surgery, the patient’s consultant will liase closely
with our highly trained team of Specialist Paediatric Nurses, who
monitor and care for the children’s needs. The Resident Medical
Officers, dedicated to the paediatric ward, provide constant
medical care and cover.
Depending on the condition, the plastic surgery team will also
work closely with the hospital’s clinical specialists
including:
- Speech and language therapists
- Physiotherapists
- Occupational therapists
- Nutrition and dietetic service
- Diabetic service
- General paediatric medicine
