Bupa Cromwell Hospital
Innovation for Cleaner Surgery
Bupa Cromwell Hospital, London was the first hospital in the
capital to benefit from an innovation by one of its leading
Orthopaedic Surgeons John Hardy, a Consultant in Trauma and
Orthopaedic Surgery.
John, the inventor of the P3 Lavage Tray, said
that he was delighted that the tray was now available for vascular,
cardiothoracic, plastic and orthopaedic surgery at the Bupa
Cromwell Hospital.
John said: “The inflatable disposable lavage
tray solves three problem
s. It keeps the theatre suite clean during surgery,
it reduces the risk of cross infection for patients and staff and
it allows the anaesthetist to better measure fluid loss during long
surgical procedures.”
The hospital is very excited by the recent
breakthrough which represents a new era in cleaner and safer
operating for its theatre complex.
Bernie Bishop, Programme Manager Surgical
Directorate: “We have a good record as a hospital with a low risk
of surgical site infection and this innovation will help us
maintain our great results in the league table for low risks of
complications after surgery. In addition the P3 Lavage Tray will
allow efficiency of theatre time as turn around after surgery will
be shorter”.
