Welcome to the Paediatric Centre
The Bupa Cromwell Paediatric Centre provides a wide
range of services for children of all ages, including some of the
more complex procedures now practiced in paediatric medicine and
surgery such as liver transplants.
Clinical Expertise
The Centre is led by Professor Edward Howard, MS FRCS(Eng)
FRCS(Ed) and the team of over 200 paediatric consultants is drawn
from London's principal teaching hospitals. The support team
includes specialist children's nurses, a hospital play specialist,
dieticians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and
interpreters.
Outpatient and Diagnostic Facilities
The Centre has a dedicated outpatient area with a comprehensive
range of diagnostic facilities on hand. There are two MRI scanners,
a CT scanner, ultrasound equipment, general radiography, nuclear
medicine, an angiography laboratory, audiology, neurophysiology and
an on-site pathology laboratory. Our Hospital Play Specialist
will be on hand to help put your child at ease for any scans.
Inpatient Facilities
The inpatient unit comprises 14 bedrooms and a dedicated
paediatric theatre which accepts patients for Plastic Surgery,
General Surgery, ENT, Urology and Orthopaedic Surgery. A team of
paediatric resident medical officers provide 24-hour cover. There
is also a paediatric intensive care unit (PICU). For
daycases, patients are nursed
in a 4 bedded day care area but can be nursed in a private room,
depending on availability.
Child friendly and secure
All patient areas are furnished and decorated to create a
friendly and relaxed atmosphere for children, their parents and
carers. Each bedroom has a TV and en-suite bathroom. Folding beds
are available to enable one parent to stay overnight with their
child.
The unit's activity and play centre provides
activities for both children and adolescents, and has a good range
of books, music, games and toys.
The Centre is equipped with a secure access system to ensure the
safety of the children at all times.
