Pyloric stenosis
In this condition, babies between the ages of 2-8 weeks develop
very forceful vomiting, best described as projectile. Thickening of
the muscle at the stomach outlet causes the condition.
Surgery
The only treatment is surgical, the procedure takes 30 minutes
and most babies are discharged home within 2-3 days.
Mr Misra has described a new modification of doing umbilical
pyloromyotomy. It has been published in his name in the European
Journal of Paediatric-Surgery, 8:81-2, 1998.
