Your child's stay with us

Specialised care

We know that coming into hospital can be scary for children as well as a very worrying time for parents.  All the staff in the Paediatric Centre are very experienced in looking after children and their families. They will do everything they can to make your child's stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible, as an out-patient or in-patient.

Our qualified Paediatric Play Specialist and other clinical support staff, will be on hand to support the nursing staff, children and parents to make their hospital experience a positive one.

Outpatient and Diagnostic Facilities

The Paediatric Centre has a dedicated outpatient area with a comprehensive range of diagnostic facilities. We have an MRI scanner, a CT scanner, ultrasound equipment, general radiography, nuclear medicine, an angiography laboratory, audiology, neurophysiology and an on-site pathology laboratory.  Our Paediatric Play Specialist is there on hand to help put your child at ease during any scans they may need.

We can offer daycase anaesthetic for MRI scans if this is appropriate.

Child friendly

All patient areas have been designed to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for children, their parents and carers. Each bedroom has a TV with DVD and en-suite bathroom. Folding beds are available if parents would like to stay overnight with their child.

The unit's activity and play centre provides activities for both children and adolescents, with a great range of books, music, games and toys including a Play Station and Xbox.

Daycase and in-patient facilities

The inpatient unit has 14 bedrooms and a 4 bedded day care area adjacent to the dedicated paediatric theatre (Rainbow Theatre).  Our Rainbow Theatre carries out a wide range of surgical procedures including Paediatric Plastic Surgery, Paediatric General Surgery, Paediatric ENT, Paediatric Urology and Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery.

Inpatient facilities are also used for non-surgical conditions such as failure to thrive, chest infections, feeding problems and rehabilitation.

The Paediatric Centre also has one of only two private paediatric intensive care unit's (PICU) in London.
