Jonathan Cousins leads a team of anaesthetists with
specialist training in bariatric anaesthesia. State of the
art technology is used to ensure your safety.
Obesity can be associated with an increased risk of anaesthetic
complications but with the correct care only rarely will patients
need to be cared for in an intensive unit for a few hours post
surgery.
There are dedicated operating rooms with specialist beds and
equipment to specifically cater for our bariatric patients. Our ITU
services are state of the art and have been nationally recognised
to be fully equipped to deal with complex surgical cases. We
also have designated post operative beds with round the clock care
by nurses with expertise in management of specific needs of
bariatric patients including clot prevention and lung function
optimisation.
Our system is so well designed for this type
of surgery that our patients are walking the ward within a few
hours of surgery finishing.
