Choroid plexus papilloma
Definition and Presentation
Rare benign tumour of the choroid
plexus which is the intraventricular organ in the brain producing
cerebral spinal fluid. Patients with these tumours usually present
with signs of increased intracranial pressure and hydrocephalus,
that is primarily headache, nausea and sometimes clouding of
consciousness.
Diagnosis
CT and/or MRI.
Treatment
The treatment is usually surgical. Post-operative Gamma Knife
surgery has been performed for patients with choroid plexus
papilloma in the posterior fossa where radical resection has not
been possible.
