About Dr Fergus Robertson
Fergus Robertson is a consultant in interventional and diagnostic neuroradiology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. Fergus is currently the clinical lead for paediatric interventional neuroradiology at GOSH and for spinal imaging. His key clinical focus is the endovascular management of vascular problems of the brain and spine in adults and children, in particular the treatment of cerebral aneurysms and arteriovenous shunts. He also coordinates the national service for Vein of Galen malformations and other vascular malformation in children and babies at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Fergus graduated in undergraduate medicine from Cambridge University in 1993 and was awarded his MD from Bart's and the London Hospital in 1996. Before becoming a radiologist he trained in general medicine and cardiology and was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1999. He trained in general radiology in North London before sub-specialising in Neuroradiology with Interventional neuroradiology at Queen Square and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. He was appointed to his current consultant post in 2006. He currently runs a busy NHS and private neurovascular interventional practice embedded in the largest group of adult and paediatric neurovascular specialists in the UK.
Fergus also has a wide diagnostic neuroimaging expertise with special interests including vascular and spinal disorders. Fergus runs an active program of research, publishing textbooks chapters and papers in journals supported by a number of research grants. He is heavily involved in teaching and training junior colleagues. He runs a national training program for nurses and radiographers. He is passionate about minimising clinical risk and maximising patient safety through an active clinical governance programme and strong clnical leadership.
