A message from Jag Chohan, HR Director

It’s been a little while since my last update, so I wanted to take a moment to share some of the fantastic progress and people-focused initiatives happening across our hospital and diagnostic centres.

Let’s start with a major milestone: in our May People Pulse survey, which was answered by clinical and non-clinical staff across the hospital, we maintained our World Class status by achieving a record-breaking engagement score of 84. This reflects the dedication, care, and energy shown by teams across the hospital. It’s clear that our people love working here, and that’s something worth celebrating.

There’s been a lot going on, but here are a few highlights I’m especially proud of:

  • Personal Growth and Careers saw a remarkable 16-point improvement, showing that our efforts to make development opportunities more accessible are making a real impact.
  • Our Taking Meaningful Action score rose by 2%, now at 92%, which tells us that feedback is not only being heard but also driving visible change.

We’ve also delivered our World Class Culture programme to over 387 colleagues, strengthening our inclusive, purpose-led culture and giving everyone the chance to connect and contribute to our fantastic working environment. These efforts helped us achieve Inclusive Employers Accreditation and Award – a milestone I’m extremely proud of. I want everyone to feel they can show up as themselves at work, and we’re committed to supporting that.

Another exciting development has been welcoming new colleagues at New Victoria Hospital following our recent acquisition. It’s a brilliant opportunity for growth across Health Services, and I’m looking forward to building strong collaborations. The reception has been incredibly warm, and they’re delighted to be part of the Bupa family.

You may have also heard about the launch of Bupa Campus and our new Clinical Training Academy in Staines. It’s one of the most impressive facilities I’ve seen, offering staff the chance to train in real-life clinical environments. I had the pleasure of attending the opening, where I even learned how to do dental fillings and met the AI mannequins (albeit the ones that blinked did throw me off a bit!).

On the People Team front, we’ve had a refresh. While Yvonne is off enjoying maternity leave, I’m thrilled to welcome Sharon, Avneel, and Arthur as our new People Business Partners. They’ll be supporting different areas of the business alongside Pooja, Ana, and Cheryl, ensuring we continue to provide strong, people-focused support.

It’s been a busy few months, and there’s plenty more to come, from apprenticeships and training opportunities to Summer Soirées and other celebrations.

Finally, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you. Your ongoing support and commitment help us create an exceptional environment for both staff and patients at Cromwell, Basinghall, and London Medical. We’re excited about what’s ahead and grateful to be on this journey with you.

Cromwell Hospital

The latest news and updates from our Kensington hospital.

New Angio lab at Cromwell Hospital; ?>

New Angio lab opens

Significant enhancements are underway within Cardiology, marked by the recent opening of our brand-new Angio lab – with a second set to launch very soon.

The newly opened lab features the Philips Azurion Bi-Plane system, a state-of-the-art imaging platform designed to deliver exceptional precision and streamline procedural workflows. The second lab, arriving later this year, will be equipped with the Philips Azurion 7 Single-Plane system.

These new Angio labs have been designed to support a wide range of minimally invasive cardiac procedures, with the expanded space offering a more comfortable and efficient environment for both patients and clinical teams.

“We’re proud to be opening our new facilities, which represent a major step forward in our Cardiology services,” said Philip Luce, CEO, Diagnostic and Secondary Care London. “The new Angio lab brings together advanced technology and a modern, patient-focused design that supports high-quality care and enhances the experience for both patients and staff.”

Wall breakthrough at Lexham Gardens; ?>

A major breakthrough for Lexham Gardens

We recently marked a huge milestone in Cromwell Hospital’s expansion project: the symbolic breakthrough into our new Lexham Gardens site, marking the physical connection between our existing hospital and the new development next door.

This expansion is a key part of our commitment to enhancing patient care and experience. Once complete, Lexham Gardens will feature:

  • a purpose-built physiotherapy centre designed to support faster recovery and rehabilitation
  • a dedicated radiology space equipped with advanced imaging technology for more accurate diagnostics
  • expanded facilities for both patients and staff, creating a more comfortable and efficient care environment

Your patients will be able to benefit from increased capacity, improved access to care, and an even broader range of treatments – all under one roof.

Stay tuned for more updates as we move closer to opening our new building later this year.

Patient Portal now live

We’re excited to share that Cromwell Hospital’s Patient Portal is now live! This new digital platform empowers your patients to take greater control of their care by allowing them to view past and upcoming appointments, securely make online payments, and complete documentation ahead of their visit.

Designed with simplicity and ease of use in mind, the portal enhances the patient experience by streamlining key processes and reducing time spent on admin. It’s a significant step forward in our commitment to delivering a world-class, patient-centred service at Cromwell.

Satellite Centre Party

On Wednesday 23 July, the beautiful gardens of the DoubleTree by Hilton London Kensington provided the perfect setting for our Basinghall Clinic and London Medical networking evening.

Guests enjoyed a delicious BBQ and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere, creating a fantastic opportunity for consultants from London Medical and Basinghall Clinic to connect with GPs from both practices, as well as those from the surrounding areas.

We’re incredibly grateful to all the consultants who joined us and helped make the evening such a success. We look forward to welcoming you again at our next event!

Children's therapy service

At Cromwell Hospital, our paediatric physiotherapy service supports children from birth to 18 years old, offering expert assessment and treatment tailored to each child’s unique needs. Our paediatric physiotherapists – Martina and Susana – combine specialist physiotherapy skills with advanced knowledge of child development and paediatric conditions.

Our goal is to help children achieve their optimal physical outcomes through personalised care. Each child begins with a comprehensive initial assessment, lasting approximately one hour, during which therapy goals are established. To make sessions engaging and enjoyable, we incorporate fun activities and toys, creating a welcoming environment for both children and their parents. We also provide guidance to help families understand their child’s therapy needs and feel confident in supporting progress at home and in daily life.
