Dr Suman Paul

Dr Suman Paul is a Consultant Respiratory Physician with extensive expertise in the assessment and management of complex respiratory conditions and lung cancer. He qualified in medicine after completing his MBBS at Medical College, Kolkata, India, followed by postgraduate medical and specialist respiratory training in India.

Dr Paul completed his specialist respiratory medicine training within NHS trusts in North-West England and subsequently undertook an advanced interventional pulmonology fellowship in Italy, developing high-level procedural expertise. He also holds the European Diploma in Adult Respiratory Medicine and is a member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK).

He holds a consultant post at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he leads COPD services, and is actively involved in service development, diagnostics, and multidisciplinary respiratory care.

Dr Paul’s clinical interests include asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis, chronic cough, breathlessness, lung cancer, lung nodules, and obstructive sleep apnoea. He has substantial experience in advanced diagnostic procedures, including bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) bronchoscopy, and is known for delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care.
