Dupuytren’s contracture surgery is a procedure used to treat patients who suffer from Dupuytren’s contracture, where one or more fingers bend towards the palm and cannot be straightened.
What does Dupuytren’s Surgery involve?
During the surgery, most patients are put either under general or local anesthetic to numb the hand. Your surgeon will then make an incision along your palm and finger in order to straighten it. In some cases, patients may require a splint after surgery, depending on the severity of the contracture.
What is the recovery period?
The recovery period for Dupuytren’s surgery can depend on multiple factors, which your surgeon will discuss with you in more detail. However, it is a quick procedure and patients are able to leave hospital on the same day. Our dedicated recovery team of specialist orthopaedic nurses and physiotherapists will work with you closely to ensure you build strength and mobility as quickly as possible.
As well as working with all major insurance companies, we also welcome patients who wish to pay for themselves.
