About Mrs Georgia McConnell
Georgia McConnell is a Surgical Specialist Dietitian at Cromwell Hospital, with extensive expertise in the assessment and management of patients requiring complex nutritional support. Her practice spans both inpatient and outpatient services, with a specialist focus on nutritional optimisation before and after surgery to support recovery, outcomes, and long-term health.
Georgia works closely within multidisciplinary teams across the Surgical and Medical inpatient wards, delivering evidence-based nutritional care for patients with a wide range of complex clinical needs. In addition, she leads outpatient clinics, providing specialist nutrition support for patients undergoing and recovering from colorectal, gastrointestinal, head and neck, liver, and pancreatic surgeries.
Georgia graduated from the University of Surrey in 2019 with a BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics and began her career within the NHS. During this time, she developed advanced clinical expertise in cardiac and respiratory nutrition, working extensively within High Dependency Units and the Intensive Care Unit. She also played a key role in the development of a Specialist Cardiac Rehabilitation service, supporting patients to implement effective dietary change following acute cardiac events.
She subsequently pursued a specialist interest in oncology nutrition, working within a Specialist Oncology Centre. There, Georgia gained substantial experience supporting patients undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy, particularly those with head and neck and upper gastrointestinal cancers. She also has significant expertise in the nutritional management of pancreatic cancer and pancreatic exocrine insufficiency.
Since joining Cromwell Hospital in 2022, Georgia has become a valued member of several specialist clinical teams, contributing to the delivery, development, and continual enhancement of high-quality nutrition support services across the hospital.
Georgia is strongly committed to advancing dietetic practice and improving patient outcomes through evidence-based, patient-centred care.
