About Mr Reza Mirnezami

Mr Mirnezami qualified from King’s College London in 2004 and completed his surgical training in London. He is a consultant colorectal surgeon and is the Clinical Director for Colorectal, General and Emergency Surgery at the Royal Free Hospital.

Mr Mirnezami offers treatment for all benign and malignant conditions of the small intestine, large intestine and anus, as well as general surgery conditions such as abdominal wall hernia. He chairs the Colorectal Cancer Tumour Board at the Royal Free Hospital and his practice is primarily focused on the operative management of colorectal cancer and neuroendocrine tumours of the midgut. He performs high volume of robotic procedures for colorectal cancer and also performs a high volume of open and robotic surgical procedures for neuroendocrine tumours, for which he is a tertiary referral specialist, receiving referrals from all around the United Kingdom.

Mr Mirnezami is firmly committed to evidence-based medicine and has active areas of ongoing research focused on colorectal and neuroendocrine tumours. He holds a doctoral degree awarded by Imperial College London for his PhD thesis, supervised by Lord Ara Darzi, which evaluated colorectal cancer metabolism. He has published over 80 manuscripts in scientific journals and has authored 7 book chapters on wide ranging clinical topics including surgical oncology, robotics, and artificial intelligence in healthcare. His work in the field of neuroendocrine tumours has received national recognition and he serves as a committee member for the UK and Ireland Neuroendocrine Tumour Society (UKI-NETS).
