About Mr Tomas Madura

Mr Madura is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with more than 25 years’ experience in peripheral nerve surgery, hand surgery, complex microsurgical reconstruction, treatment of paralysis, surgical treatment of nerve pain and selected headache conditions. His surgical practice includes nerve decompressions, targeted muscle reinnervation, nerve transfers, tendon transfers, and other advanced reconstructive techniques designed to restore movement, improve feeling, and reduce pain.

After graduating with High Honours, Mr Madura completed a PhD in Neurobiology at Osaka University in Japan in 2005. His specialist plastic surgery training took place in Manchester from 2006 to 2016, followed by fellowship training in the treatment of brachial plexus paralysis at a world-renowned centre in Japan, where he developed expertise in advanced microsurgical techniques. In 2018 he was awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Hand Surgery by the British Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Mr Madura currently holds a substantive consultant post at the Brachial Plexus and Peripheral Nerve Injury Service, Birmingham Hand Centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

In addition to his clinical work, he serves as a Clinical Expert to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), contributing to the development of national standards for peripheral nerve surgery. His academic work includes publications and presentations in the fields of peripheral nerve surgery, surgical treatment of pain, and microsurgery.
