Sharon Jones, Clinical Nurse Specialist at Cromwell Hospital, has achieved national recognition after winning at the Diabetes Nursing Awards 2025.
Sharon was honoured for her outstanding contribution to transforming diabetes care within the hospital setting, securing awards in the Inpatient DSN of the Year and the Diabetes Educator of the Year categories.
At the heart of Sharon’s success is her work in establishing a comprehensive diabetes service at Cromwell Hospital. Her efforts have delivered measurable improvements in safety, care quality and patient outcomes.
She has developed and embedded clear, practical policies and procedures for hypoglycaemia and diabetes management, ensuring consistency and confidence among clinical staff. Sharon’s collaborative work across departments has driven better documentation, enhanced digital monitoring systems, and education that is tailored to both staff needs and patient experiences.
Speaking at the awards ceremony Sharon said: “This award recognises a lifetime of work and I am hugely grateful to win. Education is key to those working with people living with diabetes and I plan to keep working hard to raise the profile of this condition.”
The ceremony, held at the Radisson Blu, Bloomsbury in London on Friday, June 6, was hosted by Dr Sarah Jarvis MBE and attended by diabetes nursing professionals from across the UK. Organised by Orange Juice Communications, the event celebrated excellence, innovation and dedication in diabetes care.
