About Mr Kelvin Chong
He received his medical degree from Glasglow University in 2000 and undertook advanced surgical training within the South West London training rotation. He has trained at leading London cancer centres, including the Royal Marsden and Royal Surrey County NHS hospitals. He also holds a postgraduate certificate in breast ultrasonography from the University of London.
Mr Chong is part of a new generation of breast surgeons who are trained in oncoplastic breast surgery – a new field of breast surgery which combines breast cancer surgery with plastics and reconstructive techniques. This approach aims to minimise the cosmetic effects of breast cancer surgery and enhance the wellbeing of breast cancer patients.
In addition to his wide skillset in breast cancer operations, Mr Chong possesses vast experience in diagnosing and managing breast cancer patients of every scenario. He also runs a breast cancer risk assessment service where he uses the latest evidence-supported statistical software for breast cancer risk assessment using breast density and genetic testing. He can accurately calculate the effects of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) on breast cancer risk.
Mr Chong’s practice is always kept up-to-date and is supported by the latest scientific evidence. He is supported by a strong multidisciplinary team of oncologists, radiologists, geneticists, and breast care nurses. He also has a support team that includes a menopausal specialist, lymphoedema nurse, physiotherapist, clinical psychologist, acupuncturist, and exercise trainers.
