About our Lung Health Check

Whether you're experiencing worrying symptoms or simply want peace of mind about your health, our one-stop checks provide a full and comprehensive assessment of your lung health, delivered by our team of world-class respiratory consultants.

If you opt for one of our Lung Health Checks, you will undergo a range of diagnostic tests to review your lung health. After undergoing your diagnostic tests, your results will be reviewed by a multidisciplinary panel of experts, which includes thoracic radiologists and lung oncologists. If required, our experts will design a personalised treatment plan that is expertly tailored to you, delivered with the support of our Integrated Cancer Campus.

Your consultation, tests and any recommended treatment will be carried out all under one roof, in the quiet, modern surroundings of our state-of-the-art South Kensington hospital.

It is advisable to have a lung check-up if you have a history of heavy smoking, currently smoke, and are over 50 years old.

However, wider factors can contribute to someone’s chances of developing lung cancer, so we advise you to call our team on +44 (0)20 7244 4886 if you would like to confirm your suitability for a check.

If you are not eligible for one of our Lung Health Checks but would still like to speak to one of our respiratory consultants, we can offer an appointment with an expert respiratory consultant to review your symptoms and medical history.

You may also wish to speak to one of our respiratory consultants if you are experiencing the following symptoms:

  • Coughing that won’t go away or is getting worse
  • Coughing up blood
  • Shortness of breath
  • Wheezing
  • Fatigue or persistent tiredness
  • Unexplained weight loss

Once you’ve arrived at the hospital, you’ll need to check-in at our main reception desk. A friendly member of staff will direct you where you need to go.

Your Lung Health Check will begin with a consultation, where your respiratory consultant will ask you questions about your current health and medical history. This also helps your consultant to re-confirm your eligibility for the CT scan.

You will then be taken to our diagnostics department to have your low-dose one-part CT scan (plus additional tests if you are having a full check-up). Once you’ve had your tests, you will be able to go home.

If your respiratory consultant thinks it is necessary, your results may be discussed at a multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting.

Once your results are ready, your consultant’s secretary will be in touch to book you in for a follow-up appointment.

If you are diagnosed with lung cancer, or a benign lung condition, you will be referred on to Cromwell Hospital for treatment.

Patients who require treatment for lung cancer will have access to an advanced range of treatments, delivered at our Integrated Cancer Campus. In partnership with GenesisCare, we are home to Europe’s most advanced radiotherapy centre, which holds cutting-edge technology like the MR Linac, Gamma Knife Icon, and Varian Edge. We also provide other world-leading treatments, including minimally invasive and robotic surgery performed using our state-of-the-art da Vinci XI system.

Our multidisciplinary team (MDT) will design a personalised treatment plan, expertly tailored to your needs. Your treatment plan will be delivered with sensitivity and compassion, all under one roof at our world-class private hospital in London.

You don’t need a GP referral to have a Lung Health Check, but our team will need to check your eligibility.

Contact us at +44 (0)20 7244 4886 to book an appointment at a time of your convenience.
