3D modelling
3D modelling is an innovative technology that transforms 2D diagnostic scans into interactive, virtual models, which can be used to assist pre-operative planning.
At a glance
Who's it for?
Any patients undergoing surgery, provided this service is offered by their surgeon.
What's involved?
A 2D scan is taken and transformed into an interactive, 3D digital model, available across multiple devices.
Why is it used?
When used in pre-operative planning, 3D modelling may provide improved surgical outcomes for patients.
As one of the UK’s leading private hospitals, we strive to provide the latest and greatest medical technology for our patients, which is why we are harnessing the benefits of 3D modelling for pre-operative planning.
3D modelling allows our surgeons to visualise complex patient anatomy with greater precision. As a result, patients may experience improved surgical outcomes with faster recovery times and a reduced risk of post-operative complications.
What is 3D modelling?
3D modelling is an innovative technology that transforms 2D diagnostic scans (such as CT scans) into interactive, virtual models that can be used to assist pre-operative planning before surgery. They are particularly useful for tumour removal surgeries.
These 3D models can be viewed on any device, from smartphones to tablets, and help our surgeons better evaluate tumour depths and margins. Patients can also interact with their own 3D models, allowing them to feel more empowered and involved in their treatment.
About Innersight Labs
At Cromwell Hospital, our 3D modelling services are provided by Innersight Labs, who create virtual, interactive 3D models of patient organs that allow our surgeons to visualise complex anatomy.
Innersight Labs’ 3D modelling technology is currently used by several NHS trusts across the country.
What are the benefits of 3D modelling?
Improved surgical outcomes
You may benefit from improved surgical outcomes, such as less scarring.
Reduced risk of complications
3D modelling may help reduce complications, such as excessive bleeding.
Faster recovery times
You may have a shorter stay in hospital, with a faster post-operative recovery.
Reduced anxiety pre-surgery
Seeing a 3D model of your organ(s) may help you feel more confident about surgery.
