MonaLisa Touch®

MonaLisa Touch® is a non-hormonal, chemical-free treatment to address vaginal atrophy (atrophic vaginitis).

Millions of women experience changes to their gynecologic health, due to a health condition or age.

Vaginal atrophy is the thinning, drying, and inflammation of the vaginal walls that can occur with a drop of oestrogen. A reduction in oestrogen can be caused by the menopause but can also be a result of treatment for some gynaecological cancers or breast cancer due to surgical removal of ovaries, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and inability to use hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

The MonaLisa Touch® is a minimally invasive medical laser treatment used to treat vaginal atrophy.

What is the MonaLisa Touch®?

The MonaLisa Touch® is an innovative laser procedure that delivers fractional CO2 laser energy to the vaginal wall tissue.

It is a quick and minimally invasive procedure that is performed in an outpatient setting.

About the procedure

Your gynaecologist will discuss your treatment options after a clinical assessment to see if the MonaLisa Touch® is the right option for you.

Once you have had a clinical assessment, you will be booked for an outpatient appointment. One of our expert consultant gynaecologists will perform the procedure.

A small probe, carefully inserted in the vagina, delivers fractional CO2 laser energy to the tissue of your vaginal wall. The laser stimulates the production of collagen and new blood vessels, restoring proper balance to the mucous membrane. The procedure only takes a few minutes, and you can go home the same day.

Patients usually require two to three sessions.

At present, the MonaLisa Touch® is only available as a self-pay service.

Pricing (hospital package only):

  • One session from £500
  • Three sessions from £1,300

Please note, consultant fees are billed separately.

MonaLisa Touch® is suitable for most woman wishing to prevent or treat the vaginal symptoms due to oestrogenic decrease (in menopause, after a childbirth, or after a cancer treatment).

The MonaLisa Touch® is also a treatment option for those who unsuitable or non-responsive to pharmaceutical intervention.

Women who have a serious local or systemic infection are not suitable for MonaLisa Touch®.

Your consultant will provide a clinical assessment and discuss if the Monalisa Touch® is a suitable option for you.

The treatment is performed within a comfortable outpatient setting, and you can return home the same day.

It is common to feel a small discomfort for a few days after your treatment, but you should expect to return to your normal routine after a day or so.
