Lung function tests we offer
Lung function tests are a group of medical tests that assess how well your lungs are working. Each test measures a different aspect of, or action within, the lungs.
Spirometry
A spirometry is a simple breathing test that measures how much air you can breathe in and out from your lungs.
Exhaled nitric oxide test (FeNO)
A FeNO test measures the amount of nitric oxide in your breath, which indicates the level of inflammation in your lungs.
Full lung function test
A full lung function test includes a spirometry, a diffusion capacity test, and a body plethysmography.
Skin prick allergy test
Skin prick allergy tests look for reactions to common allergens, like animal dander, food and pollen.
Body plethysmography
Body plethysmography is used to measure lung volume and how much effort is required for each breath.
Bronchial provocation tests
Bronchial provocation tests involve inhaling special medications to assess how sensitive your airways are.
Capillary blood gas test
A capillary blood gas test (CBG) measures the level of oxygen and carbon dioxide in your blood.
Cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET)
A cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) assesses how well your lungs and heart work during physical activity.
Diffusion capacity test
A diffusion capacity test is used to evaluate how well oxygen and other gases can pass into the blood.
Hyperventilation assessment
A hyperventilation assessment involves a capillary blood gas test (CBG) and an evaluation of your condition.
Impulse oscillometry (IOS)
An impulse oscillometry (IOS) is used to assess the amount of resistance in the airways when breathing normally.
Overnight oximetry test
An overnight oximetry test is used to measure the levels of oxygen in your blood as you sleep.
Respiratory muscle tests
Respiratory muscle tests are used to assess the strength of the muscles that control your breathing.
Reversibility test
A reversibility test is occasionally performed with other tests to see if your symptoms improve with medication.
Lung Health Checks
If you are a smoker, have a history of heavy smoking, and are over 50 years old, it is advisable to have a lung health check.
