Breast care diagnostic pathway

We understand that waiting for answers about your breast health can feel overwhelming. Our triple assessment breast pathway is designed to give you clarity and peace of mind, faster.

Overview

At Cromwell Hospital, Basinghall Clinic, and London Medical, our triple assessment breast pathway offers fast access to appointments with leading breast consultants. A triple assessment means you’ll receive a physical exam, mammogram, and, if required, a biopsy.

Mammography, ultrasound, and some biopsies can be completed during the initial consultation. The imaging results can be provided the same day, with biopsy results within a few working days. We can then offer rapid access to world-leading cancer treatments, if needed.

What tests are involved?

Depending on your symptoms, you may need to have:

  • mammogram – an X‑ray of the breast used to check for any changes
  • ultrasound – a scan that uses sound waves to create images of breast tissue
  • core biopsy – a quick, minimally invasive procedure to take a small tissue sample for analysis

Breast care diagnostic pathway

All patients with breast abnormalities are first seen by a breast consultant, who will conduct a triple assessment.

Step 1

Your breast consultant will listen to your concerns, review your symptoms, and perform a physical examination.

Step 2

Any recommended scans or biopsies will be explained and carried out during your visit.

Step 3

Your consultant will share initial findings with you the same day.
