Respiratory medicine

Part of the Heart and Lung Centre, our respiratory department provides a comprehensive range of lung function tests, advanced treatments and expert-led multidisciplinary care.

Why choose us for respiratory medicine?

What is respiratory medicine?

Respiratory medicine covers a wide variety of conditions of the airway and lungs, their linings and blood vessels, and the muscles and nerves needed for breathing.

You will be assessed by our world-class respiratory consultants, who diagnose and treat conditions ranging from asthma to lung disease, with input from our multidisciplinary team.

As one of three departments within our Heart and Lung Centre, respiratory medicine is closely aligned with cardiothoracic surgery, which welcomes patients who require surgical treatment or diagnostics.

Our expert respiratory team

As part of our multidisciplinary approach, our world-class consultants and a team of healthcare professionals work tirelessly to deliver the very best, personalised treatment plans and compassionate care for our patients.

Throughout your journey with us, you may meet with various supporting clinical roles, including physiologists, physiotherapists, dietitians, specialist nurses and more.

Respiratory conditions we treat

We treat a broad spectrum of conditions affecting the respiratory system, including asthma, allergies, chest infections, sleep-related breathing disorders and more.

Some respiratory conditions require treatment through surgery, which is carried out in our cardiothoracic surgery department.

Lung function tests and diagnostic services

Our diagnostics centre provides one of the most comprehensive ranges of lung function tests available privately in London, including spirometry and fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO).

Consultations and diagnostics can all be carried out on the same day, all under one roof – which reduces your wait time and allows you to access specialist treatment faster.

We also provide some basic tests at Basinghall Clinic, a centrally located outpatient centre.

Paying for your treatment

We welcome both self-paying and insured patients.
